The new volume of Weihnachtsfilme lesen III: Ein Wundergenre (Reading Christmas Movies III: A Miracle Genre) was recently published. Kathleen contributed an article on the topic of “Weihnachten auf Netflix: Genre, Gender und saisonaler Konservatismus” (“Christmas on Netflix: Genre, Gender, and Seasonal Conservatism”) to the anthology, in which she writes about the Christmas movies available on Netflix and the streaming provider’s implementation of the genre.
Three volumes of the Weihnachtsfilme lesen series have been published so far, each dealing with the genre in different ways: Whether it’s the portrayal of crisis stories, family structures, or the influence of format and production, the series always focuses on the phenomenon of Christmas movies.
