NZZ Interview on the "Déjà-vu" Moment in Cinema lately

The Swiss “Neue Züricher Zeitung” published an interview with Kathleen on the high number of remakes and already familiar film franchises at the box office lately. Nadine A. Brügger talks with her and David Weibel, lecturer for psychology at the Univerisity Bern, about reasons for this seemingly high number, why it makes sense for Hollywood to release more familiar material than to take risks, and how remaking has always been a part of Hollywood’s history.
You can read the full German article here.

You can find more background information on the practice of remaking in Kathleen’s latest book Hollywood Remaking, available at UC Press.
