Upcoming Conference Talks in Malta and Bayreuth

In November, Yining will give presentations at two different events: First, she will participate in the international conference “Rethinking Comparison in Sinology,” which will take place November 4–6 at the University of Malta. There, she will present a paper titled “Chinese Viewers of the Post-1980 Generation and Hollywood Sequels and Franchises: Generational Differences and Continuities.” This talk is based on her work thus far in the Chinese case study, and will present more of her findings to a broader audiences.

Later that month, from November 12–14, she will also participate in this year’s PGF Conference in Bayreuth. The conference’s theme is “Planetary Precarities: Perspectives of/on the Age of Post-Truth,” and she will take part in a panel discussion on “Epistemic Violence.” Her paper, “Unravelling the Post-Truth Nostalgia: The Frontier Myth and the ‘Stubborn Horse’ in Sam Shepard’s Kicking a Dead Horse,” is based on her master’s thesis and allows her to present work outside the scope of her dissertation project.
