
Talks at the Postgraduate Forum (PGF) in Leipzig
This year, the 35th annual Conference of the Postgraduate Forum (PGF) of the German Association for American Studies (DGfA/GAAS) was organized and hosted by the Leipzig University’s Institute for American Studies. From November 6-8, doctoral students had the chance to present papers on the topic of “Crisis and Resilience in American Literature, Culture, History, and Politics.”
As part of the very first panel “Rethinking Resilience,” Yining and Tina presented papers on “Post-COVID Hollywood in China: Market Decline, Shifting Policies, and Audience Critiques” and “The Subject of Love, On a Very Cultural Leve: Responding to Crises in the Hollywood Romantic Comedy,” respectively. The panel was chaired by Jiann-Chyng Tu, who also moderated the following panel discussion with panel member Lujain Youssef.
